The Avenues Riyadh is expected to be the largest mall in the Middle East, designed to deliver a world-class shopping and entertainment experience for residents and tourists. AMG Systems were involved in the project to enhance security and surveillance of the millions of visitors that are expected each year.
To enhance the safety and operational efficiency, the mall required high-performance connectivity for over 1,400 IP security cameras spread across a vast area. Not only this, but they needed a robust solution that would maintain high operational efficiency long into the future.
The AMG team worked closely with the developers at The Avenues to determine the key requirements for the project, with a solution that needed to support long-distance fibre connectivity for backbone infrastructure; provide PoE (Power over Ethernet) for cameras without compromising reliability; and, ensure scalability for future expansion.
To meet the security requirements, AMG Systems deployed a hybrid solution using its advanced networking products:
AMG250 Series Industrial POE Media Converter – It connects 600+ cameras across the mall’s backbone network, delivers high-speed fibre connectivity with robust redundancy features and ensures secure and resilient network architecture for mission-critical surveillance.
AMG140A-1GR Series PoE Extenders – They power 800+ cameras in remote and hard-to-reach locations, extend PoE and data, beyond standard limits for more than 100 metres limitation of ethernet cable, reducing the need for additional cabling and power sources, and simplify installation and minimise infrastructure costs.
AMG Systems’ solutions for the project provided a range of key benefits for The Avenues Riyadh including reliability by ensuring uninterrupted surveillance coverage, scalability as the network design supports future expansion without major overhauls and cost efficiency through PoE extenders which help reduce cabling and power requirements.
