dormakaba has unveiled the EasyAssist, a smart access system designed to simplify the operation of doors, offering significant benefits for older adults, people with limited mobility, and children.
This innovation marks a new benchmark for accessible entry to buildings and rooms. Engineered for enhanced comfort and safety, the EasyAssist can be retrofit into spaces such as senior living facilities and hospitals, while maintaining energy efficiency due to its low power consumption.

The EasyAssist system provides a compact solution combining four functionalities:

● Automatic opening with a simple light touch
● Touchless access in fully automatic mode
● Controlled and quiet door closing
Utilising the existing mounting points of conventional door closers, the EasyAssist is ideal for retrofitting in environments such as nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, or administrative buildings.
Development of the EasyAssist incorporated insights from numerous research collaborations. dormakaba collaborated with German universities to focus on reducing the force required to open a door across its entire motion trajectory. Another partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology examined the specific challenges that doors present to older adults in daily life.
This innovation by dormakaba responds to demographic trends. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the global population aged over 60 is projected to double to approximately 2.1 billion by 2050. Creating accessible environments is seen as essential for health, safety, and social inclusion.
