
IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH is set to enhance its uEye FA series with the addition of new models incorporating Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, offering resolutions from 2 to 12.5 megapixels.
These robust cameras are designed for industrial automation and inspection, combining high image quality with durable construction to withstand harsh environments. The range expansion, available from late July, is tailored for systems facing high-pressure cleaning, dusty conditions, or sub-zero temperatures, all while maintaining IP69K protection standards.
The new models are equipped to handle a spectrum of industrial tasks, from manufacturing automation to quality inspection, thanks to their capabilities in various lighting conditions. The sensor variants in the lineup include IMX662 (2 MP), IMX664 (4 MP), IMX675 (5 MP), IMX678 (8 MP), and IMX676 (12.5 MP). As GigE Vision-compliant cameras, they are easily integrated into existing infrastructures.
Sony STARVIS 2 sensors stand out for their superior light sensitivity that extends into the near-infrared range, alongside minimal noise levels and the Clear HDR process, which broadens dynamic range. These features enable the cameras to capture sharp, detailed images in complex environments, further improved by an asynchronous exposure trigger for enhanced industrial suitability.
Specifically engineered for industrial use, the camera construction ensures reliable functionality even under extreme conditions such as high pressure, significant contamination, or temperatures as low as –20°C. “The combination of robust hardware and state-of-the-art sensor technology enables precise image analysis even in challenging environments,” stated Alexander Klingner, Head of Product Management at IDS. “This provides the foundation for stable and reliable processes in harsh industrial settings.”
