Major supplier Amberstone Security is the first intelligence and security services provider in the world to offer PACKED, a new fraud prevention solution that gives online retailers video proof that items have been packed and dispatched, helping to tackle loss prevention and increase the transparency of the dispatch process.
The pandemic and the resulting boom in online ordering prompted a dramatic rise in false claims of items being undelivered. At the end of 2020, a survey of 3000 UK and US consumers by Signifyd, found that 30% of those questioned had claimed that an order hadn’t arrived when in fact it had. At the beginning of the same year before the pandemic took hold only 8.1% of consumers admitted to making such false claims.
As one of the providers of electronic security solutions operating across the UK and Europe, Amberstone Security’s innovative technology is the first of its kind and is the result of a collaboration with surveillance specialists Morphean, and camera technology firm Axis.
By placing cameras at each packing station and recording the complete packing and sealing process, PACKED provides incontrovertible evidence that can be used in the event of a customer claiming their order has not arrived. PACKED reduce fraudulent claims of missing orders, thereby allowing customer service teams to focus their attention on legitimate complaints.
It’s not just fraudulent claims that PACKED can help eliminate the technology that can be used in a variety of situations where a time and date stamp investigation is required, such as ‘click and collect’ inquiries, final-mile delivery processes, and radio frequency ID (RFID) package tracking.
As the only security services provider in the country currently offering PACKED, Amberstone Security is leading the way in helping online retailers tackle refund fraud. Managing Director of Amberstone Security, Dan Hardy says, “In challenging times for retail, the new PACKED system is a game-changer in the fight against refund fraud. We provide free trials to showcase the technology and all the benefits it brings, demonstrating what the significant opportunities and cost savings are for the retail industry.”
