Trinity Catholic School in Arkansas has become the first private educational institution in the state to implement ZeroEyes’ AI gun detection technology. ZeroEyes, renowned for developing the first AI-driven gun detection video analytics platform with a full U.S.
Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act designation, announced that its software has been introduced to enhance security measures at the school. By adopting this technology, Trinity aims to safeguard its students, staff, and visitors against potential gun threats.
Situated in Fort Smith, Trinity Catholic School is a faith-based institution hosting over 230 students and 30 faculty members in a three-story, 105,000 square foot building. The school promotes a community-oriented mission urging students to “Be Something, Do Something, and Leave Something, All for the Glory of God.”
With a long-standing commitment to safety, the school already features substantial security measures, including robust door locks, laminated glass, surveillance cameras, and a full-time security officer. Integrating ZeroEyes’ technology elevates their security strategy by adding proactive and intelligent monitoring capabilities.
Trinity’s expansive 20+ acre campus, extending to nearby roads, benefits from the early warning capabilities offered by ZeroEyes, which can detect individuals with weapons approaching the campus.
“The students are obviously the most important asset we have, so we would go to any level to protect them,” stated Daniel Grubbs, the Safety and Security Officer at Trinity Catholic School.
He highlighted the importance of early warning and situational awareness given the campus’s size, noting that ZeroEyes acts as a ‘force multiplier’ to swiftly identify and respond to potential gun threats.
ZeroEyes’ gun detection technology operates by augmenting existing digital security cameras. Upon detecting a firearm, images are immediately relayed to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC). This U.S.-based operations center, the only fully in-house facility of its kind, employs military and law enforcement veterans trained to assess threats around the clock.
If a threat is confirmed, alerts with actionable intelligence such as descriptions, weapon type, and the last known location are dispatched to local law enforcement and school officials within 3 to 5 seconds.
Mike Lahiff, the CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes, commented on the collaboration, “Trinity Catholic School has taken a proactive, tactical approach to campus safety, protecting students and staff while maintaining a welcoming environment. We’re proud to provide technology that mitigates gun-related incidents with speed, accuracy, and integrity.”
