Tagmaster has, through its American subsidiary Sensys Networks, been awarded the ITE Transportation Achievement Award for the development and installation of Givemegreen! – a mobile app that makes it possible to detect bicyclists as they approach an intersection.
Sensys Networks receives the award together with the city of Santa Clara, California, where GiveMeGreen! was first implemented. Sensys Networks has also received an order from the city of Fort Wayne, Indiana, regarding implementation of Givemegreen! at nine of the city’s intersections.
Givemegreen! is a free smartphone application, developed by Sensys Networks, which identifies bicyclists and scooter riders as they approach an intersection to facilitate and shorten waiting for the green light. The app was launched in 2019 and is implemented in Santa Clara, California, which has been involved in developing the application.
With the Givemegreen! app downloaded into the phone, the bicyclist or scooter driver is detected about 90 meters before an intersection with traffic lights. The signal system is activated so that the user gets the green light as soon as possible. This means that the bicyclist or scooter driver does not have to go to a pole to press a button to get the green light, which improves traffic flow while increasing safety.
According to the company, Givemegreen! has attracted lots of attention and has already earlier received a number of awards. The current award is presented by the Institute of Transportation Engineers, which is an international member association for transport staff.
