Mysore Palace deploys smarter surveillance system with innovative cameras by Axis Communications

Axis Communications, a leader in network video, has expanded its footprint to the City of palaces- Mysore, with the successful installation of network cameras for integrated and intelligent crowd management in Mysore Palace.

Mysore Palace is among the world’s most famous and busiest heritage sites in the state of Karnataka. With an area of 72 acres and an annual footfall of up to 3.5 million visitors per year, it has partnered with Axis Communications to integrate an IP surveillance solution system to provide complete security coverage to palace grounds and adjoining areas with minimum human intervention along with reliable storage to store videos.

According to the IHS 2019 India report, the global video surveillance market size is expected to grow from USD 588 million to USD 1.6 billion by 2023, at a CAGR of 18.3%. Vis-a-vis, that of network cameras is expected to grow from USD 225 million to USD 605 million at a CAGR of 26.6%. Heritage sites with its rich artifacts of national importance require calculated integration of intelligent solutions for its safeguarding and protection.

The increasing concerns of social distancing, public security and rising demand for remote monitoring are some of the driving factors for the growth of the network camera industry.

A holistic system was designed according to the needs of the customer to enable perfect monitoring of the grounds and deploy quick alarms for potential security breaches. The implementation covers every point of the Palace property – from entry points to the parking areas with blind spots. A total of 125+ Axis network cameras consisting of different models powered by Ethernet has been set up to provide excellent image quality.
