Intelligent Security Systems (ISS), an international provider of video intelligence and data solutions, has introduced its SecurOS® Soffit pedestrian safety system in Las Vegas, specifically at the intersection of First Street and Ogden Avenue. Collaborating with Pinnacle Consulting & Advisors, this marks the inaugural proof of concept (POC) for the Soffit in the area.

This initiative is a component of Las Vegas’ Vision Zero strategy, which is focused on eradicating traffic-related deaths and severe injuries. Vision Zero, which began in Europe in the late 1990s, has progressively expanded in the United States, with over 70 communities adopting its approach to enhancing street safety.

Located near the Fremont Street Experience—a hub for over 24 million annual visitors—the installation addresses the elevated pedestrian risks present in bustling parts of the city.

The Soffit stands out due to its use of advanced analytics for pedestrian detection, deploying a responsive LED lighting system that activates as individuals cross, thus enhancing visibility without contributing to light pollution. This approach supplements static crosswalk lighting to prepare drivers for potential crossings before dynamic lighting activates.

Aluisio Figueiredo, CEO of ISS, noted, “We are proud to partner with the City of Las Vegas on this important initiative. Pedestrian safety in high-traffic urban environments demands intelligent, purpose-built solutions. This deployment is a strong example of how AI-driven technology can address real-world infrastructure challenges, providing meaningful protection where traditional countermeasures alone may not be sufficient.”

The Soffit system’s installation in Las Vegas follows its successful deployments in cities such as Dublin, Ohio, and Kodiak, Alaska, demonstrating a growing trend in adopting AI-enhanced pedestrian safety technology across the United States.
