Reed Exhibitions, producer of ISC West, has announced that the event has been postponed due to concerns over the expanding coronavirus outbreaks. The event, which attracts more than 25,000 attendees, was scheduled to be held March 17-20. Several vendors, including large manufacturers and systems integrators, had canceled their plans to exhibit at the show.
With growing concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus, Motorola Solutions and its Avigilon brand had released a statement on their decision to pull out of this year’s ISC West.
The trade show, one of the biggest in the security industry, hosts over 30,000 security professionals and over 1000 exhibitors each year.
Motorola solutions was the latest to join a list of companies withdrawing. Earlier Johnson Controls confirmed to IPVM, saying: Security Products is withdrawing from ISC West due to the increased impact and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. JCI said “ We might have few employees attending the show for various commitments but we will not have a booth”. Oncam also announced withdrawing from the 7 previously planned partner booths (Aimetis, Genetec, March, Milestone, Mirasys, OpenEye, and Salient).
Israeli companies and their employees were also unlikely to come as they face a 2-week quarantine returning from the show, as the Jerusalem Post reports: Israel Citizens returning from international conferences will be required to enter quarantine as well. Organizers in Asia, Europe and North America have canceled or postponed at least 440 trade shows and exhibitions in response to the coronavirus this year, including scores during the past week, according to German expo trade magazine m+a.
