Hanwha Vision, the vision solution provider, has launched a range of PTZ PLUS cameras with AI capability for accurate detection and classification. The high-definition AI PTZ PLUS range is designed for large open areas such as airports, car parks, stadiums, city centres, and industrial estates, as well as perimeter protection.

The inclusion of AI reduces false alarms and allows the cameras to accurately classify objects including persons, faces, vehicles (including vehicle type) and number plates.
This object detection and classification enables operators to quickly search for footage of specific objects, making smart forensic search highly efficient. Combined with intelligent video analytics, operators can monitor for objects such as people entering and exiting a predefined area like a restricted office within an airport, or crossing a line, to detect when a person or vehicle has crossed a perimeter, for instance. Appear/disappear and loitering detection is also possible.

The deep-learning AI means irrelevant objects, such as waving trees, moving clouds or animals, all of which are normally the cause of false alarms with standard motion detection technology, are ignored by the cameras. This enables control room operators and security personnel to focus on responding to real incidents and emergencies.

One notable feature of the X Series AI PTZ Plus cameras is its auto-tracking functionality driven by the upgraded AI engine. With the ability to distinguish between individuals and vehicles, the cameras automatically lock onto desired targets and track even small objects in challenging scenarios characterised by low-light and nocturnal settings.

Furthermore, a missing object redirection capability swiftly recovers temporarily lost targets, allowing uninterrupted tracking despite unforeseen disruptions. The AI PTZ PLUS comes subscribed to an MQTT server that enables it to work seamlessly with other devices and sensors in an installation, including Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. Information shared with the camera via the MQTT broker will cause it to react in different ways including panning automatically to a detected entry/exit to provide visual confirmation that a person is authorised to be in the area and then sharing an email report back to operators.

Alternatively, the camera can share information about an object detection event to the MQTT broker, to then trigger specific actions such as locking or unlocking a door, switching on lights or turning off the air conditioning. The ability to communicate and share data with other devices through MQTT transforms the AI PTZ PLUS camera from a security tool to a business intelligence solution.

The new 2MP, 6MP and 4K cameras can capture evidence-grade images of objects up to a distance of 200 metres away in all lighting conditions, thanks to adaptive IR technology. A focus save function, which can be applied to 32 pre-defined areas, ensures that the camera can rapidly come into focus when moved to a new position, again, regardless of lighting conditions.

An extended tilt range of up to 110° ensures that objects positioned above the cameras can still be seen. WiseNRII noise reduction technology and Prefer Shutter control also work to boost image quality. The AI PTZ PLUS cameras have a pre-set accuracy of ±0.1 and can automatically detect if they are not precisely aimed at a specific field of view and correct themselves within one second, ensuring operators are constantly receiving the best footage of a location.

65% lighter than most PTZs, the X Series AI PTZ Plus line-up is designed with a focus on easy installation and durability. With a single RJ45 terminal, cable connection becomes effortless and swift. Additionally, the inclusion of a flexible cable bush eliminates the need for additional waterproofing work, effectively preventing water ingress and ensuring enhanced protection.

Uri Guterman, Head of Product & Marketing at Hanwha Vision explains, “The AI PTZ PLUS range underpins Hanwha Vision’s continued commitment to advancing the way businesses operate, by delivering high-definition visual data and AI insights that extend beyond traditional security.” The newly launched AI PTZ Plus line-up comprises nine models, available in 4K/6MP/2MP resolutions with options for IR and wiper functionality.
