Impact resistance tests recently carried out by Samsung Techwin on its internal dome cameras with plastic housings have produced some surprising results.
The tests, which were carried out on all Samsung Techwin’s dome cameras to establish their ability to withstand impact, showed that Samsung Techwin’s SND-5061 1.3 megapixel network internal dome camera, despite being priced as an entry level model, is impact resistant to IK8. “Although it is our lowest priced internal dome camera model, the SND-5061 proved to be highly impact resistant,” said Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. “The good news however, is that all of the models successfully passed the tests and were given an IK rating.”
Historically impact resistant domes have always been thought of as been made of metal. Whilst we are proud to have established a reputation for manufacturing products that are robust as well as reliable, we nevertheless therefore felt it important to verify to customers that our internal domes with plastic housings could continue to operate effectively even when attacked.”
