ZeroEyes, the creators behind the first AI-based gun detection video analytics platform to secure full SAFETY Act Designation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, has announced its deployment at Palestine Community Unit School District #3 in Illinois.
This implementation aims to enhance safety for students, staff, and visitors by reducing the risk of gun-related threats.

Situated in Palestine, Illinois, the district caters to students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, emphasising a nurturing community dedicated to educational and future readiness. With a focus on fostering safe and supportive schools, the district collaborates extensively with local families and community partners to create a protected learning atmosphere.

Multiple consultations with ZeroEyes assisted district leadership in evaluating the potential benefits of integrating the technology, ultimately reinforcing their existing safety protocols with an advanced security solution that detects firearms visibly before they are discharged.

Superintendent Jessica Sisil of Palestine CUSD #3 stated, “The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. ZeroEyes was willing to work with us to implement a solution that enhances our safety efforts while remaining mindful of our resources. This partnership is an important step forward in protecting our school community.”

ZeroEyes leverages its AI gun detection and intelligent situational awareness software alongside the district’s current digital security camera infrastructure. Once a firearm is detected, images are rapidly transmitted to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), the sole in-house U.S.-based centre, operated round-the-clock by veterans from the U.S. military and law enforcement.

Upon validation of a threat by these experts, alerts with crucial details—such as visual description, firearm type, and last known location—are dispatched to law enforcement and school security within seconds.

Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes, remarked, “Palestine CUSD #3 has taken a proactive, tactical approach to campus safety, protecting students and staff while maintaining a welcoming environment. We are proud to provide technology that mitigates gun-related incidents with speed, accuracy and integrity.”
