ZeroEyes, known for its AI-driven gun detection platform, has implemented its technology in New Jersey’s Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District.
This initiative aims to bolster the safety measures for around 1,800 students and 350 staff members across Indian Hills High School and Ramapo High School, located in Bergen County’s suburban communities of Franklin Lakes, Oakland, and Wyckoff.
With this addition, ZeroEyes enhances the district’s comprehensive security framework, which is already supported by a school resource officer (SRO), upgraded public address systems, improved camera setups, and strobelight alerts.
“Our leadership team, in collaboration with our Board of Education, is constantly exploring new approaches and ideas to stay ahead of potential security issues and enable the best possible response to a school-based threat,” said Charlie Wolff, District Security Coordinator and School Safety Specialist at Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education. “Partnering with ZeroEyes allows us to take our video surveillance system to a whole new level. At Ramapo Indian Hills, our primary goal is to create a safe learning environment for every student, and we achieve this through an ongoing cycle of security evaluation, implementation, and refinement.”
The AI-driven software by ZeroEyes is designed to integrate with existing digital surveillance cameras. Upon detecting a firearm, the system immediately sends images to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC). This centre, staffed round-the-clock by U.S. military and law enforcement veterans, is unique for being entirely U.S.-based. When a credible threat is confirmed, these experts dispatch crucial information — including visual descriptions, gun type, and last known location — to law enforcement and school security, typically within 3 to 5 seconds.
Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes, expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “We’re proud to support the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District in its mission to provide a safe, secure learning environment. The district’s decision to implement ZeroEyes demonstrates their dedication to prioritising security and enabling their students to focus on their education.”
