Pyronix has been selected as a finalist for the British Security Awards 2023. The awards are organised by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and “celebrate the achievements, acts of bravery and innovations made by members of the UK’s security industry”. The company has been recognised in the “Innovative Security Project” category for the Cardefender; a complete industry first, combined technology device.
“The rising trend of vehicle theft is really worrying. As an innovative security systems and technology company, we felt well placed to develop a brand-new-to-market solution. Having consulted with professional security installers, we determined a device that can be added to existing Pyronix systems was the way forward,” said Laurence Kenny, Marketing Director.
The novel device connects with the home alarm system when in wireless range of the control panel to deliver instant notification via Homecontrol 2.0 in the event of an attempted theft, alerting users to take preventative action straight away.
Laurence continued: “The Cardefender is a revolutionary product that sets out to combat a very real issue for vehicle owners in today’s world. It’s a versatile solution with multiple use cases; including the protection of cars, vans, caravans, bikes and motorcycles; that offers a new line of defence to deter thieves and intruders.”
Featuring three configurable detection modes, the Cardefender contains a three axis accelerometer, which can be set to detect shock or tilt – it can trigger for shock only, tilt only, or if either shock or tilt is detected.
It comes with a specially designed, brightly-coloured silicone rubber mount, allowing users to strap it to a vehicle’s steering wheel for reliability and visual deterrence; or it can be secured with the included 3M tape providing additional flexibility.
“It’s fantastic to be selected as finalists in the “Innovative Security Project” award this year. Innovation is at the heart of our business and what we set out to achieve time and time again. By introducing products like the Cardefender, we’re able to provide installers with unique solutions that support their conversations with customers, bolster their maintenance visits and, ultimately, maximise their sales opportunities,” Laurence said.
